Gray days highlight sound Trains moan, hummingbirds chatter, Crows my metronome

Post rain, streets glisten, Water rushes through gutters, Freshness. My eyes smile.

Flags flown at half-mast Too common a scene this year But we change course now.

One streak of a squirrel, And suddenly they must lurk In every tree

They pierce my darkness Calculations in the sky Mass, energy, light

In state-space spirals, Moisture cascading through time Key to paradox?

Plants move like inchworms Fighting down a corridor of scarce resources

The sun balances On the Golden Gate Bridge and I on this hilltop
